Creative Teaching

At ICA, the cornerstone of our educational philosophy lies in the dynamic interaction between students and faculty members, both inside and outside the classroom. Whether engaged in lively discussions in the classroom, competing on the athletic fields, or collaborating during evening study hall sessions, these daily interactions form the bedrock upon which life-long friendships and enduring personal values are built. Our faculty members, hailing from diverse backgrounds such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and beyond, are carefully selected for their expertise in their respective fields, international experience, and keen sensitivity to the individual needs of students. While there is no one-size-fits-all teaching method, our educators foster an environment of active participation, experimentation, and critical inquiry. Through seminars, hands-on learning activities, and personalized mentorship, faculty members inspire a spirit of intellectual curiosity and achievement among our students.

Harkness Philosophy

Harkness tables, with their oval shapes and a low student-teacher ratio, are ideal for discussions.  At Harkness tables, students face each other, giving each student an equal opportunity. There is no back row, and students are not talking to the back of another student. Students are expected to make positive contributions in every class. The discussions foster an in-depth understanding of the material and help students to grow in their ability to listen, participate and articulate their views while respecting the views of others.

Boarding Philosophy

The Resident Program at ICA is dedicated to providing opportunities and challenges, enabling every student to reach their fullest potential. Resident hall students will become more confident, well-rounded, and independent. ICA’s resident boarders will develop quality social interactions, self-awareness, discipline, and quality personal care. They will develop a respect for others in a nurturing and supportive environment.
