Track Write Up
On April 1st Ivy Collegiate Academy’s Phoenix Track and Field team traveled to crosstown rival Morrison Academy for the 2017 Taiwan International School Sports Association (TISSA) Championship meet. Over the weekend meet, all athletes achieved at least one personal best time or distance.
A few performances of note took The Phoenix to new heights. Ichiro Okabe ’17 broke Phoenix records in the 200m, running 24.8 (previous Sean Hu ’15, 25.02) and the 400m, running 56.1 (previous Ricky Chang ’14, 59.3). Ichiro’s performances earned him 2nd and 1st place respectively. Yoshitomo Tamura bested his previous record for Javelin with distance of 25.19m. Additionally, Tim Sun ’19 cruised to be bronze in the 3000m and the 1600m men’s medley relay with his teammates Daniel Chang ’17, Henry Ma ’17, and Ichiro Okabe ’17.
