Monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread globally, we at ICA are actively monitoring the situation both here in Taiwan and abroad with the goal of always providing our students, faculty and staff with a safe environment.

Our sources include the Taiwan Center for Disease Control, The World Health Organization, Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus tracker and Media outlets such as the New York Times.

What is ICA doing to reduce the risk of exposure on campus

Taking Temperatures

  • Every morning starting at 7:30am administrators are at the two entrances to the campus to take temperatures
  • Secondly, during the start of the first period, administrators will also take temperatures in every class.

Hand Washing Stations

  • Students are urged to wash their hands often
  • Hand washing stations are at the exits to the main building, on the dorm floors and fifth floor as well as in the library of the new building.
  • Hand washing bottles can be found on all dining hall tables

In the Classrooms

  • All classes have been equipped with a sanitizing spray to clean desk tops at cleaning time
  • Classrooms and resident hall rooms are also sprayed every week
  • We have special cleaning supplies and wipes that are effective against the COVID-19 virus.

Masks: Although there is discussion on the effectiveness of masks, we are asking students to

wear masks in the classrooms, halls etc.

Spring Break

  • ICA realizes that many of our students from abroad ie South Korea, Japan may not be able to go home or will have difficulty re-entering Taiwan, Therefore:
  • We will assist these boarding students staying with a friend or
  • We will keep our resident halls open, hold classes in the morning, field trips and excursion in the afternoon or possibly full day educational field experiences.

The safety of the ICA community is our top priority and we will continue to monitor the situation and events. We will communicate with the community on any new developments.
