Swimming

This past weekend was one of the biggest swim events of the year for the TISSA league schools. Morrison Academy, with their new outdoor pool, hosted the event that saw 12 teams and hundreds of swimmers competing against each other. ICA had 17 swimmers who have been training incredibly hard since the start of school who were chosen to compete. It was quite an amazing day with almost every single ICA swimmer making a personal best time in one or more event. ICA even had 6 swimmers who medaled in their age group! The boys relay team had one of the most exciting races to finish out the day, earning a silver medal against the top team in the country. 8th graders Cheryl Yang and Betty Chuang, 11th grade Jeffrey Chang, and 12th graders Daniel Lo, Beckham Lin, and Peter Cheng all brought home at least one medal.

Soccer

Both the Varsity and JV boys’ soccer teams played in a round robin event which had them facing off against Morrison Taichung and Morrison Kaohsiung. The ICA boys were up against some very tough competition throughout the day, and the blazing heat sure did not help! They toughed it out however and finished the day with a lot of experience and the knowledge of where they want to improve. The boys are getting better by the week, and we cannot be more excited about the upcoming matches. Shout out to Paul Lin (V) and Wilson Chen (JV) for their first goals at their respective levels! The JV team has 2 games left before their big tournament on October 21, and the Varsity boys will be playing their big event on October 28.

Volleyball

The ICA girls Varsity volleyball team also traveled for 2 games this weekend, with matches against Morrison Taichung and Morrison Kaohsiung. It was a slow start for the girls in their first game, and seeing as the team is almost entirely new to the varsity squad, their chemistry on the court was still an issue. They played hard, but lost all three sets, with plenty to work on. The girls had a few long talks together in between the games, and clearly something worked! In the second game, against a tougher opponent in Morrison Taichung, the girls won the second set in a proud and fantastic display of team volleyball. Despite losing the match, the girls showed a very promising game that will hopefully lead to some great wins in the upcoming weeks!
