Alumni Day
On Saturday, June 3, 2017, ICA held its first Alumni Day. Over 25 alumni from classes dating back to 2009 attended the alumni celebration. The alumni were given an update on the school by Headmaster Cheska and an activities/athletic update from Mr. Matt Ryman, Director of Athletics.
Following the updates, the alumni were entertained by the Acapella Choir, Academy Singers, ICA Strings and junior Justin Ko ’18 who sang the Toreador Song from Carman.
Yuli Yang, Class of 2009, was presented by Headmaster Cheska with the Alumni Award for her contributions to Ivy Collegiate Academy.
Senior Concert
Annually, the senior class presents the commencement concert, the morning of graduation. The program featured the ICA Strings, Acapella Choir, Academy Singers, Class of 2018 Choir, Class of 2017 Girls’ Choir and individual and small group performances.
Commencement 2017
On a rainy Sunday, June 4, 2017 ICA presented diplomas to 63 seniors. Janis Huang ’17, Student Government President opened the ceremony, and Vivian Wu ’17, Head Prefect gave Ivy Collegiate Academy’s mission “The Offer of the Academy”. Seniors speeches were given by Serenity Chen ’17 and Janis Huang ’17.
Following senior speeches, awards were given to:
Serenity Chen ’17 – Highest Academic Average
Summer Yu ’17 – Faculty Award
Joanne Chang ’17 – Headmaster Award
Janis Huang ’17 – Trustee Award
Claire Wang ’17 – Meritorious Service
Ichiro Okabe ’17 – Contribution to the Common Good
Department Awards went to:
Art – Claire Wang ’17
Mathematics – Zachary Chang ’17
French – Serenity Chen ’17
Social Studies – Yoshitomo Tamura ’17
Also, the Best Thesis Paper Award was presented to Clement Lin ’17 and The Best Thesis Presentation went to Eric Rossow ’17.
The commencement address was delivered by Dr. Lai Shi Xiong. Following the address the Dean of Faculty Michael Belkin, presented the class to Dr. Cheska who conferred the degrees to the graduates.
Following the conferral of degree, the class of 2017, sang their senior song, “Time of Our Lives”. A reception was held for all guests, graduates and students after the ceremony.
